These guys took a 2.5 billion pixel picture. When you go to the site you'll see a panoramic picture of Delft, the netherlands.
When you zoom in the picture stays sharp. You can zoom in until you can read the license plates of the cars. Truly amazing!

Defend the castle

This is one of the best games I've played lately. You have to defend your castle from the barbarians. Just click on them and toss them in the air. You get archers, wizards and kamikaze soldiers to help you. I managed to get to lvl 14. It gets really hard there because they start to use huge barbarians to help the little ones from that point.:) You can save your progress so you don't have to restart every time you play or if you don't like to play too long at a time.

How it works: the computer

In this book published in 1971 and revised in 1979, they try to explain what a computer is and what it does. The funny part for me is the excessive use of terms like mini-units and micro-units to describe computers that only fill half a room instead of the usual full room :D
Anyway, it's nice vintage stuff that reminds us what long way computers took to become the small-sized, super powered machines we know today.
Enjoy

If you like hard, (and I mean HARD), puzzles, then this is something for you. Try it out, but don't feel bad if you get stuck really quick. I'm still trying to figure out lvl 3 and I heard the game has around 25 really hard levels in total. I'll update if I advance to a next level, but you can try to outrun me :)

Good luck

Crop circles

I always loved crop circles, but not for the "alien mystery" that usually surrounds them. Many people believe they are made by UFO's, but that has never been the point for men when looking at them. Maybe they are made by "aliens", maybe they're not. I don't care.
I just assume they are made by normal people and concentrate on the important part of them: their looks. Their geometrical shapes are stunning, just plain beautiful! And that's the reason why I love them. Check out this site for a look at some very pretty ones :)

Ever wondered what your computer desktop icons do when you go to bed at night?
They don't just sit there waiting for you to come back.

Color scheme

If you ever made a website, you know that picking colors isn't the easiest task you will have to do. And when you finally picked a main site color, then you still have to find a lot of matching colors for the rest of the page. If you aren't a natural with colors, like me, this can lead to a site with such a mismatch in colors, that the visitors run/click away screaming :)
luckily, for all the colorblind, some sites offer free colorscheme creators. And I found one!
At first sight it looks really decent. The picked colors look good to say the least.

Not as big as in 1980, but something.

Talk to the hand

Isn't technology great? They're developing a new kind of phone at the moment. One where you have to use your finger as part of the receiver. So you talk to your wrist and you listen by putting your finger in your ear. :)
This looks great, but I has it's downsides/dangers. I mean, we just got 'hands free' phones, and now they make hands a requirement again. Or the transferring call pranks. Something like: "Hey John, you got a phonecall, someone called Wet Willie" :D

Ice cream

After becoming a worldplayer in the automobiles and the electronics sector, the Japanese have decided they also want to become a big player in the ice cream business. We all know that japanese people are hard workers who can get stuff like this done if they want, but somehow I got a feeling that they won't have a big breakthrough just yet. Check this site out for some of the japanese style ice cream flavors.

300 Km/h

BMW developed a hydrogen powered car that can reach speeds up to 300Km (185 miles)per hour. It goes from 0-100km/h in just 6 seconds! And it looks sooo cool.
Hydrogen doesn't pollute, so that's good. Only problem is, until they can produce electricity without using fossil fuels, this technology is kinda useless, cause instead of using fossil fuels up in cars, like today, they will use them up to produce electricity, which in turn makes the hydrogen, and that wouldn't solve much, would it?
So thumbs up everybody for solar energy :)

Are you getting annoyed too with all those advertising sp@m mails and pôp-ups you have to deal with every day? Ever wanted to get revenge, to get even? Well, now you can, well at least a little bit. [edit:sorry, dead link] specializes in using up sp@m sites' bandwidth. Just open the page and let it run as long as you like, every second you leave the window open, bandwidth is used from the sp@msites, shutting them down eventually when they exceed there monthly bandwidth allowance :)
This will make them lose revenue and abandon the site. Probably to start a new one, which will be attacked too :)

The Sims2

I played the sims2 today. Looks like fun :)
There are a lot of new features: a cool 3-d view, your character ages, you can build 3 story houses, and that's just a small part of the new things.
The game itself is massive, a full 3.5 Gb and 4 installation disks. But what would you expect with such a big game.
I think I'm going to play this a lot over the next few days or weeks. Unless there's something even better coming up, you never know.

Dragon test

Took one of those internet tests too today. What's your inner dragon...
Turns out I'm A Amethyst Dragon!

In the war between good and evil, a Amethyst Dragon tends to walk the fine line of Neutrality....
When it comes to the powers of Chaos vs. those of Law and Order, your inner dragon walks a fine line between Law and Chaos....
As far as magical tendencies, Magical spells come as natural to the Amethyst Dragon as breathe from it's body....
During combat situations, whether by spells or by claw, your inner dragon will do whatever it takes to get the job done....
The Amethyst Dragon makes its home in the deep caverns of the earth, often in mountainous regions. They spend much time in hibernation as one of their favorite things to do is to sleep.'
Formed from translucent amethyst, it is an awe inspiring sight to see one in it's true form. Light passes through the dragon's body creating a deep purple glow. It's scales will magnify the light rays into bright lavender beams to highlight this effect.'
Amethyst dragons spend most of their time homebound but do occasionally feel the need to take a sojourn to a far destination. These dragons love books and will often pick their destination from one of the many stories and histories they may have read. Amethyst dragons are very solitary in nature, but do keep a distant watch on the world around them. They tend to be highly intelligent, and often amuse themselves in human form by building gadgets and toys. Amethyst dragons are very learned creatures.
'
This Dragons favorite elements are: Amethyst, Deep Places, and Magic

You can take the test here

Fathers-4-Justice

Some guy dressed up as Batman climbed up to the buckingham palace a few days ago. Awesome! His fellow Robin didn't make it, he got stopped by some security guards. The reason they went up there is to protest against the fact that dad's most often don't get the custody of their children after a divorce, and the children go live with their mother. That's not all, in a lot of cases the dad can't even go visit their children, even though they have visitation right, because of the mother won't let them come near the children :(

Doodlebug

I found a fun website some time ago. It's called Doodlebug.

You can make simple drawings(doodles) there and get them rated by others. You don't get an eraser, so you have to do it right the first time. If the judges find your drawing good enough, they'll give you a bronze, silver or gold star. Or a bronze/silver/gold cup if you do good in a competition.

Try it, it's really fun. The only downside is that the site is offline quite often. This is probably because it's still a work in progress, new things are constantly added. :)

Country test

I took the country test.
Looks a bit short and undetailed, but arn't all internet tests that way?

Anyway, turns out i'm like brazil.

You're Brazil!

You're athletic, charming, and probably a good dancer.
Unfortunatley, you don't really mind chopping down the rain forest, and you probably
consider homeless people expendable in certain circumstances.  Of course, your
personality is so diverse that it's hard to track down exactly what you're like.  You
definitely like Pele, the World Cup, and shouting "gooooal" at the
top of your lungs.

Gmail

Today, the gmail story came up again. Some time ago, some people over at worth told us, that they had found a link where the could create an account on google's gmail. The link appeared in their blogger homepage. Turns out blogger is putting sporadic links on active bloggers' homepages. I totally forgot about this. But I'm on the lookout from now on. It would be great if I could get a gmail account.

UPDATE: Got one! finally! not through blogger though. Someone at Kingdomofloathing sent me an invite :)
