Exit Mundi

Ever wondered what could happen to the world in the future? Think the world is here to stay the way we know it for ever? Think again. This site has tons of end-of-world scenarios, some crazy and farfetched, others very possible to happen in a not so distant future. All are explained very clearly and supported with scientific facts, but in a way it doesn't get boring. A must see if you want to know if it's time to duck under the table to hide, and if that would help you.

Road subsidence

Ever seen the creation of a river? Want to know what a river does to a road when it's in the way? These are a series of pictures that show the gradual subsidence of a road, leaving a serious gap afterwards. I think they need a bridge on that place now. Or at least a few dumptrucks full of sand to fill the hole.

iPod's dirty secret

iPod has a secret. Some guys recorded a phone call to the iPod helpdesk. They wanted to know what they should do now their iPod's battery stopped working after 18 months. It turns out you can't get or buy a separate new battery. So the advice from the helpdesk was: "Just buy a new iPod".

So that's why they keep selling so much of them, you apparently have to replace the every year and a half. The rest of the film you see them walking on the streets and spray painting a warning on every iPod ad they see.

So, do you have an iPod? How old is it? And how much longer do you think it will work?

Badger Badger Badger...

Stumbled on this classic again. And it's still great! I once again was staring at it for almost 15 minutes, almost as if I was hypnotised. Have a look and let me know what you think of it :D

Katrina devastation

I found a satellite picture on googlemaps showing the devastation Katrina caused.
If you look, you can see clearly what giant part of the city flooded. You can also make out the superdome, with the roofcover partly torn off. Have a look.

Looting/Finding

What's the difference between looting something and finding something in New Orleans these days? Apparently it's skin color. Every picture with blacks in them that I have seen were described as looting, and every one with whites in them were described with words like finding or shopping.

I'm not talking about the looters that take entire widescreen TV's with them, cause they ARE looting. I'm talking about the people (both black and white) with groceries in their hands, just trying to survive after a big natural disaster, like in the pictures above.

Taking food and water to survive isn't looting, it isn't when you are white and it isn't when you are black. But for the press it's apparently only not looting when you are white. Something is very wrong in media coverage these days.
